A warmed poultice consisting of a blend of special herbs is applied on the knees.
Janu basti is Effective for:

JANU BASTI THERAPY

Janu refers to Knee joint and surrounding area.

• Position of person undergoing Janu Basti should be supine that is face up on massage table or make him sit bending legs in knee joint.
• Before Janu Basti, local massage with oil is done to improve the absorption of medicated oil or decoction of herbs according to requirement of person.
• The dough is prepared by using black gram flour or wheat flour.
• Boundaries where oil to be poured are completely sealed with the help of dough.
• The medicated oil is soaked up, heated to become lukewarm and pored back again by adding fresh oil in it. This repeated during the whole procedure.
• Duration of treatment varies considering condition and requirement of patient.

• Evacuate stools or urinate before coming to the Vasti table.
• Ayurvedic body massagewith oil is required before Vasti. The massage should be gentle and without any heavy pressure on the back or related organs.
• A steam bath is offered after themassage for 10 to 15 minutes. Local steam or NADI-SWEDANA can be done.
• Do not lift any kind of heavy stuff during the treatment course.
• Correct your sitting and standing postures.
