Manya Basti is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy that belongs to the basti chikitsa (oil-retention treatment) category. It is a localized treatment where warm medicated oil is retained over the back of the neck (Manya pradesha) using a dough ring made of black gram flour or wheat flour.

🔹 Procedure of Manya Basti

  • Preparation of Dough Ring – A circular boundary is made using black gram or wheat flour dough and placed firmly on the back of the neck.

  • Placement – The area is cleaned and gently massaged with oil.

  • Oil Retention – Warm medicated oil (like Mahanarayan Taila, Ksheerabala Taila, Dhanvantaram Taila) is poured inside the dough ring and kept warm for 20–30 minutes by replacing it with freshly warmed oil as needed.
