🌿 Padabhyanga (Ayurvedic Foot Massage Therapy)

Definition:
Padabhyanga is an Ayurvedic therapy where the feet (Pada) are massaged (Abhyanga) with medicated oils or ghee.
It is both therapeutic and relaxing, as the feet contain important nerve endings and marma points connected with vital organs and systems.

🔹 Procedure of Padabhyanga

1. Purva Karma (Preparation)

  • Patient is made to sit or lie comfortably.

  • Feet are cleaned with warm water and wiped dry.

2. Pradhana Karma (Main Procedure)

  • Warm medicated oil (like Ksheerabala Taila, Dhanwantaram Taila, Bhringaraj Taila, Sesame oil, or Ghee) is applied to the feet.

  • Gentle, rhythmic massage is given covering:

    • Soles (stimulating marma points & reflex zones)

    • Toes and toenails

    • Heels and ankles

    • Dorsum (top) of feet

  • Special attention is given to the Kshipra Marma (a vital point between the first and second toe) and the sole.

  • Duration: 20–30 minutes

3. Paschat Karma (Aftercare)

  • Wipe excess oil with a soft towel.

  • Warm water wash may be given if needed.

  • Patient advised to rest for a short while.
